April was a month of relentless momentum. From the quiet focus of writing thousands of letters to the energy of town halls and protests (including local students), our community proved that collective action moves mountains. We didn’t just show up; we showed up with purpose, pen in hand, and voice raised.
Here is a look at what we accomplished together at GRIT this month.

- 1,233 Letters and Postcards sent

- 35 Protests attended (including local youth!)
- 10 Organizing efforts launched
- 9 Emails sent
- 5 Donations processed
- 3 Mutual Aid initiatives supported

A Month in Review
Monday, April 6 “Youth voters in PA need a nudge—from us!” We kicked off the month with a focused effort to inspire the next generation. At GRIT, we addressed letters to send to youth voters in Pennsylvania, aiming to inspire them to vote in their upcoming May primary and prepare for the November elections.
“The ballot is stronger than the bullet.” — Abraham Lincoln
- Community Note: Members brought stickers and tape to seal letters (no envelopes needed). Stamps and donations were welcomed but never mandatory.

“America is not the same, we must move forward. The removal of a convicted felon president and his criminal cabinet from our government is where we start and is now a priority.” — Laurie T. Miller, commenter on HRC Politics Chat
April 10 Dozens of middle school and high school students protested the Trump administration and ICE on Main Street in Fairport Friday afternoon. About 30 students showed up, including students from Fairport, Brighton, Henrietta and Penfield. See the report ‘This is our country too’ https://www.whec.com/top-news/this-is-our-country-too-students-from-fairport-brighton-and-penfield-rally-against-trump-administration/

April 13 The momentum continued as we returned to Junction 361 from 6:00–7:30 PM. We wrote more letters to young voters in PA and brainstormed strategies for petition letters and Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts.
- GRIT Agenda:
- Sign a petition
- Write & address letters to PA youth to inspire them to vote
- Learn about the League of Women Voters
- Current events discussion
April 20 “We will meet, as always, for an evening of GRIT community, but also in deference to our newest, most senior member giving me a piece of her mind last week that we should be sending postcards not letters, we’ll be writing 200 postcards.” Taking feedback to heart, we shifted gears to flood the zone with postcards. Thanks to generous donations, we had plenty of pens, though members were encouraged to bring their favorites.
- The Message:12 MILLION POSTCARDS. Let’s flood Congress with the facts.
- UNFIT.
- UNWELL.
- UNHINGED.
- THE CONSTITUTION SAYS YOU CAN, THE PEOPLE SAY YOU SHOULD.
- REMOVE HIM.
- 25TH AMENDMENT, SECTION 4 or ARTICLE II, SECTION 4.
- “The people DO NOT want this anymore. It’s obvious. It’s nonpartisan. And it’s overdue. Use your influence to remove him & save our country.”
April 27 “GRIT member, Julian Taylor lead the group in his Voice The Constitution program.” Whether volunteers read a section aloud or simply sipped wine and listened, we engaged in a lively discussion about the Constitution’s history and its urgent relevance today. This session was planned as a multi-part series to dive deep into the text.
“…how do we do it? We continue the pressure on our reps, we continue to refute disinformation on social, and we GET THE VOTE OUT!“
We wrapped up the month by reiterating our commitment to the grind: signing petitions, writing to PA youth, learning from the League of Women Voters, and discussing current events.
